Texas Pride

In February, first graders have a unit on Texas and citizenship.  The first picture is in response to what makes a good citizen

 They also did a collaborative project with a middle school art class.  The first graders wrote a poem

then the middle school kids illustrated it.  They combined the poems and illustrations into a class book. 

 My name is Paul and I am a cowboy.  My ranch is named Paul 3.  I have a horse named rockstar.  My job on the ranch is to feed the cows.  Cowboys wear boots and bandannas.  I love being a cowboy because of the longhorns.

 First Day of School!

Randomness from the last week of school

When we are running errands and I know there is going to be a bit of driving I ask Paul to grab a book to read.  He chose a piano book to flip through.  Can't hurt, right?

On Tuesday, the last week of school, I rolled my ankle pretty badly, and ended up on crutches for 3 days.  Then strep throat....there may be a chance the universe is telling me to take a break.

May was another month of all green smile faces, so to Braum's we went for ice cream.

Paul chose Freddy's for the last day of school dinner.

And he got a huge ice cream Oreo from Freddy's for dessert!

Paul ended the year reading above grade level, writing mostly decipherable sentences, adding and subtracting, tons of science information, and great friends.  By all accounts, Kindergarten was a success!

He's a maniac....

Paul's school had a family fun run on Friday night.  Jared wasn't able to come but Paul and I ran/walked the 1 mile course.

 He stretched before we ran.

 He beat me (by a long distance) to the finish line so I don't have a picture of him crossing the finish line, but he did get a medal! He ran most of the whole mile, only stopping to walk for a few seconds every once in awhile. This kid loves to run!
